During my insurance education, I remember going beyond the curriculum, researching, and reading more than was required. It paid off because I took four separate tests in one day and passed them all on the on the first try. I was so intrigued by the information I learned, but to be completely honest, I was also a bit frustrated. I was frustrated because I instantly began to see the disconnect between what is commonly known as the insurer and the insured. I was frustrated because I began to recall times when my friends, family, and even myself experienced losses without understanding how to use our coverage, or even worse, not having coverage at all. And lastly, I was frustrated because everything I needed to know was right in front of me the whole time, and I just didn't know it.

But how could I know if no one told me, right? It was during that moment that I decided I didn't want to just sell insurance; I wanted to help people understand it. After a couple of years of observing the industry, I learned two big things:

#1: Most people don't fully understand the coverage they pay for or are entitled to, and;

#2: Because of this, many people think insurance is a total scam because it didn't do what they thought it would.
